Privacy Policy
Last updated: 3 October 2026
This policy explains what personal data RTSoftware ("we", "us") collects when you use the RT Remote app, the RT Remote website and your RT Remote account, and what we do with it. We keep it short on purpose: we collect what is needed to run the service and nothing more.
1. What we collect
- Account data. When you sign in, our authentication provider (Clerk) receives and shares with us your email address and name, and the Google profile details you allow if you use "Continue with Google". We do not receive your Google password.
- Device data. The Device ID of each computer you register, its computer name and operating system description, and when it was last online.
- Address Book. The contacts you choose to save: name, Device ID, optional comment and tags.
- Connection data. To connect two computers our server handles the Device IDs involved, timing and the outcome of the connection request. We use this to route the connection, prevent abuse and fix problems.
- Diagnostic logs. The app may send technical logs (events, errors, timings) to our server so we can find and fix problems. They are not meant to contain the content of your sessions. Contact us if you want this switched off for your device.
- Diagnostic reports. If RT Remote closes unexpectedly it asks whether to send a diagnostic report: recent RT Remote logs, the app and Windows versions, and RT Remote entries from the Windows event log. Nothing is sent without your approval unless you turn on automatic sending in Settings, and it never includes your files, screen contents or passwords. Reports are kept for 30 days and then deleted.
- Payment data. RT Remote is free for now and we collect no payment details. If paid plans are introduced, payments will be handled by our payment provider, Paddle, who acts as the seller of record; we will receive subscription status, not your card number.
- Website data. The account website uses cookies needed to keep you signed in.
2. What we do not collect
We do not record or store what you see or type in a remote session, and we do not read your files. Screen images, input and file transfers are encrypted between your two computers; our relay only forwards encrypted data.
3. How we use data
- to provide and secure the service, including signing you in and enforcing plan limits;
- to sync your Address Book and device list across your devices;
- to diagnose faults, prevent abuse and keep the service reliable;
- to contact you about your account or important changes.
We do not sell your personal data and we do not use it for advertising.
4. Who we share it with
Only service providers that help us run RT Remote, under contract: Clerk (authentication), Google (if you choose Google sign-in), our hosting provider (servers), and Paddle (payments, if and when paid plans exist). We may disclose data if the law requires it.
5. Where data is stored and for how long
Account, device and Address Book data are stored on servers operated for us by our hosting provider. We keep it while your account exists. When you delete your account or ask us to, we delete or anonymise your data, except where we must keep something to meet legal obligations or to resolve disputes. Diagnostic logs are kept only as long as needed for troubleshooting.
6. Security
Connections to our servers use TLS, session content is end-to-end encrypted, and each account can only read and change its own data. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach affecting you we will tell you.
7. Your choices and rights
You can view and edit your Address Book and devices in the app and on the account website, and remove devices at any time. You may ask us to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, or to object to certain processing, by writing to support@rtremote.tech with the subject "Privacy request" from your account email.
8. Children
RT Remote is not intended for people under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
9. Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will update the date above and, for significant changes, tell you by email or in the app.
